I bought this to replace the same model I originally acquired in 1993. That one served me for many years, but the latch for the feeder-top device finally broke after 15+ years of regular use. Instead of trying to buy a replacement part, I decided to purchase another brand that was less expensive and ended up very disappointed with its performance. I finally replaced the knock-off with the Cuisinart and now I wonder why I waited so long to do so. This food processor is, in my experience, the best. It feels solid and well-made. The base is heavy and the rubber feet keep it firmly in place on the countertop. The motor is up to the challenge of mixing doughs. The disc blades are sharp and make quick work of slicing and shredding and mixing. I like the addition of a low-profile lid, to be used when mixing with the blade (not with the slicing or shredding discs).

I purchased the disc storage container to go with it and am very happy with the addition of this to the set. Can''t recommend this food processor enough - you won''t be disappointed.

The machine is excellent with an incredibly stupid engineering decision on the main cover/lid. The soft plastic "safety" device only partially depresses the "safety" switch. This means that it will can not do things like shredding since the other cover will not fit over the shredding plate.
I had resigned myself to using just the simple cover and chopping and mixing on the bowl. Just before a party, I tried to shred some carrots and there the combination of shredder and main cover did not work at all.
After an hour''s experimenting, I put a small piece of plastic above the soft "safety" device and another small piece above the "safety" rod. This allowed it to depress enough to work (and it worked very effectively).
THIS IS RIDICULOUS

Stupid design flaw, though - two of the pieces can''t be separated, making for a hassle when washing and also making it awkward to use slicing discs with large items like potatoes or large hunks of cheese. It''s not a deal breaker, but it was a dumb design choice and a step back from the last Cuisinart I had (which I accidentally destroyed - no fault of Cuisinart''s).

Well, it works...but not as good as our prior 10 yr old Kitchen Aid. My wife had an older Kitchen Aid 11 cup. She cans/bottles/processes alot of food so she used it alot. The Kitchen Aid lasted probably 10 years plus and then the bowl broke last week and there is no replacement part so we had to get something new...so based on reviews we picked this Cuisinart 11 cup. One of the items my wife cans alot of are tomatoes that she uses in various recipes throughout the year. This was the first item she processed with the new Cuisinart. By her report it took approximately 4 times as long to process the stewed tomatoes with this new Cuisinart vs her old Kitchen Aid...she said the motor strength appeared to be much weaker in terms of results/time it took to process this particular tomato item. This is only a single item to be fair but....the result is still the result...much slower. After reading all the positive reviews we choose the Cuisinart but my wife is less than thrilled. I have no idea if the new Kitchen Aid has a weaker motor now too but of course it is a pain to pack all the Cuisinart and its parts back up and pay for return shipping.

As I was finishing this review I just read some of the new Kitchen Aid reviews for their 11 cup. Some complaints of weak motor and less than optimal function. Seems like everyone is now stuck with subpar performance out of these newer models.

Seems like an opportunity for someone to produce a truly superior market and clean up with a processor that actually has the power to do what it says it is supposed to do.

I have used this model of 11 cup food processor for 10 years now, replacing parts as needed and the actual base twice, for a total of 3 machines in 10 years. I use it daily, professionally (although be warned, in spite of the fact that it is called ''Pro'' and they advertise that it is ''for a chef'', the warranty will not cover professional use, only household use.) The machine itself does a great job and I would highly recommend it, yet they made a major design change for this latest model and it is terrible. Rather than keeping it simple with the lid and food pusher, they created a lid that requires a ''pusher sleeve'', which is a frustrating contraption that is difficult to clean, and it is made of very flimsy plastic which MUST connect with a slot to engage the motor. As we predicted the moment we saw it, the piece broke after a month of use, of course just past the possibility of returning by way of Amazon''s generous policy. Getting a new one is expensive and I fear it is something we will repeat several times over, as Cuisinart offers no options for the machine at all, according to the company representative I spoke with by phone. They do not have a mechanism for feedback, so I am under the impression that they do not care what the customer thinks about the product. We have continued with this line so that we can reuse the parts from past models that are still in good condition, but the next time this piece (or any part) breaks I will bite the bullet and purchase an entirely different brand. This may not be as big a concern to the home user, however the minute I saw this new part, I groaned inwardly knowing that it would break within a few uses, even at home, and I''m not even willing to swap it out for the one I use at home because of that issue. The experience has been far more frustrating than it needs to be since the company will not help me with this problem, nor guide me in finding a suitable replacement (she was not interested in my experience at all. When I called for assistance in finding a machine we could use she just told me to go on to the web site and figure out which things might work for me), or listen to feedback.

It makes me sad to only give this three stars, as I am a diehard fan of this brand and own many of their appliances, but the quality isn''t there. I bought this to replace a very similar but much older Cuisinart (I got one used at a tag sale about 20 years ago). That old one still works but the handle on the bowl cracked and the little plastic piece that clicks in to lock the lid also broke off finally.

On this new one, the blades, the motor and the overall feel are very similar in quality. It seems to have good mixing and chopping power. However, I''m deeply concerned about the locking plastic pieces on the lid and the large "pusher" top (see the pictures). There is a white piece of plastic that feels soft and flimsy, and there are two clear soft plastic pieces sticking off the "pusher" lid that click into the wide mouth top. These pieces are flexible, weak, and likely will not last 20 years.

Honestly, I just wanted to replace the bowl and lid for my old one since the blades and motor are still great, but everywhere I looked, the replacement parts would run me a bit over $100, so I figured I''d just get a new one. Mistake. Cuisinart, your current design is inferior and I can''t recommend this as highly as I used to. I''m just glad I bought the extra product insurance.

I''ve had my processor for nearly a year now and don''t know how I lived without it. It has made food prep considerably faster for a number of dishes. I do have some minor complaints, however. The processor will not turn on unless the feed cover is in place. I understand that this is a safety measure, but it is mildly annoying to have to remove parts from the processor just to add an ingredient that does not quite fit into the feed tube. There is also the fact that the feed tube is not detachable from the cover. Once again while I understand that this is for safety, it makes cleaning very difficult. I also wish there was an attachment for smaller items. The processors my mother has owned all had a bowl that fit into the top with a smaller blade for things like mincing garlic. I can''t seem to find this feature for any of the cuisinarts I viewed. None of these are all that bothersome, though. It appears to have a strong motor, has very little problem chopping and slicing, so I am happy.

This was to replace an older model that still worked after >35 years — EXCEPT that a tiny part broke that acts as a safety to prevent the blades from spinning unless the cup and cap are secured. Ours broke; it could not be glued — and having a 2nd person push a plastic spoon handle in to fake it out became too annoying and inconvenient. While the new model has some nice features (changeable heads for a single stalk for the tall blades; larger opening for the feeder), the safety mechanism and the feeder disconnect are STILL made with plastic that needs to be handled with care. If a part breaks, you''ll need to order a whole new feeder or cap. Despite that, the unit works well. The manual is pretty basic, so even if you''ve used one before, watch one or more of the many videos; even after 35 years I learned some useful tips!

I have had this for a year now and am taking back my initial RAVE reviews. The blade has come off its post while mix just pasta dough on several occasions. Tried to chop, chopped dates and nuts and again the blade flew off it''s post. There is nothing the holds the blade on its post, no rivets, snaps or otherwise. Very dangerous and now has slashed my work bowl with deep slices from the spin of the flailing blade in the bowl. I''m worried it''s going to come through the plastic sides as the blade is spinning around in the bowl uncontrollably. Very dangerous situation indeed! First review: I am very happy with this purchase! I cook and bake a great deal so I do rely on my appliances to make my life easier and this one does the job. I''ve used it for making bread and pasta dough, liking the flat bowl with the spout, so convenient unlike my other bulky Kitchenaid monster where every piece of food I shredded ended up in between the blade and jammed into the top. The shredding blades all work great and you get consistent shredded and chopped foods. It pulses quickly without having to hold the button down forever before its starts to pulse. The base in quite heavy though that really isn''t a factor. All in all I LOVE this Cuisinart!

I have now tried using this for simple tasks such as to slice vegetables and puree potato (for potato pancake). For the vegetables (potatoes) the security mechanism is such that you can only feed in small pieces at a time. The job goes way more slowly than it did with my previous, inexpensive PC food processor. I tried to puree potato for potato pancakes yesterday, and it does not even puree a quarter potato easily. With the chopping blade in, it just bounces the piece around the compartment taking off little bites over time. It doesn''t just ''puree'' it as any other food processor I have ever tried would. It took me 20 minutes just to get enough pureed for the mix. I had to put them in one at a time and wait a couple minutes each time for any piece to get sufficiently broken down. Also, if you lift the bowl off of the base (for example, to ladle batter into a pan) and then need to put it back on to mix further, the blade lifts up as you put it back on opening the central hole to the contents - meaning contents just leak down the pillar onto the base. There is no way to keep the blade down to keep the unit sealed and stuff goes everywhere. I researched this food processor a lot and actually shelled out for a better one - thinking it would last for years. Now I don''t even want to use it. It''s the most frustrating appliance I have ever used and is useless for even the most basic of tasks. DO NOT BUY!!! Note - I am not in the least an inexperienced cook. I have used food processors for over 20 years, different types, and for different tasks. I am using this as it is designed to be used, so this is not operator error! On a plus note, in spite of the return time being past before I tried it and figured out these issues, Amazon customer service was amazing and allowed a return with the pre-paid postage. I cannot emphasize enough how impressed I am with this.
